Journey was a rock and pop music group, most popular with lead singer Steve Perry. Songs here from 1978 through 1997 were sung by Steve Perry.

Any Way You Want ItEven though Journey gave the OK to play on some TV commercials, we still love this anthem song to many.Released in 1980On Album: Departure4. Open ArmsAnother power ballad by Journey released in the 80s.Released in 1982On Album: Escape3. Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)This is a great breakup song.

It is a bit gritty but full of emotion.Released in 1983On Album: Frontiers2. FaithfullyThis a power love ballad too many married couples from the Eighties and beyond.Released in 1983On Album: Frontiers1. Don’t Stop Believin’This song is an anthem to get things going. Whether it is played at sports arenas or political speeches or even wedding receptions, the song will live on forever. Who can argue with more than 30 million views on YouTube also?Released in 1981On Album: Escape. Even though Steve Perry went his own way for a time being, we have to mention his most popular single released and played on the radio – “Oh Sherrie”.

However, our favorite song was “Strung Out”. We also have to mention our favorite current song by Journey is “After All These Years” and from their current album Eclipse is City Of Hope. The Birth of JourneyEvery great band has a great origin. Journey is no different. Journey evolved from another successful band, Santana. Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie were important pieces of Carlos Santana’s band until they decided to form their own group.

With Santana’s blessing, Schon and Rolie embarked upon a musical project that would make them legends. The pair were established songwriters, but they needed a stellar vocalist to sing the Journey songs that would put the band in the record books. Steve Perry was handpicked by the founding members because of his vocal stylings and range. To this day you can instantly recognize Journey songs on the radio thanks to Perry’s distinctive voice.Rolie would eventually leave Journey to purse his own interests, leaving Schon and Perry to dominate the rock scene of the 80s with Journey classics like “Don’t Stop Believin'”, “Open Arms”, and many other huge hits.

The Secret to Journey’s SuccessThere are many elements that account for a successful rock band. One of these is chemistry between members. Neal Schon and Steve Perry combined their talents to create the Journey songs the world knows and loves.Schon is one of the greatest rock guitarists to ever pick up the instrument. Likewise, Perry is a unique vocalist that is unlike any other. For these two talented individuals to work together there was a great willingness to share the spotlight. Neither musician allowed their ego to get in the way of Journey’s success. The large library of Journey songs that are still played on the radio today and chosen for special events like weddings are a collaborative effort between Schon and Perry. They played to each other’s strengths in their writing, and that made Journey a legend.

Replacing Steve PerryWhen Steve Perry chose to leave the band after dealing with health issues and other problems, Neal Schon made a difficult decision. He chose to find another vocalist who could do justice to the classic Journey songs. Schon’s first choice was Steve Augeri. Augeri not only sang like Perry, he resembled him as well. Some fans did not like the replacement and felt like the band was trying to produce a Steve Perry clone. The Augeri era lasted through one album, Arrival, before Schon was again searching for a lead vocalist. The right man was found in Arnel Pineda, a native of the Philippines who dedicated his life to matching Steve Perry’s vocal range. Pineda took the reins in 2007 and continues to deliver faithful renditions of Journey songs today. He has even been given the stamp of approval by Perry himself.Today, Journey is still going strong and selling out concert venues.

Fans come to hear all the classic music that they grew up with. If you are looking for the perfect love song to add to your wedding or other event, look no farther than this list of top Journey songs.Journey song list curated.

The Top Ten Best Journey Songs

1Don't Stop Believin'

Yes, it's a good song. It's their equivalent to 'Livin' On a Prayer', but I think both songs might be played just a little too much. Anyway, it's a classic, and hard to NOT like. - BonJovi17

A very good example of rock ballad with a fuse of hard rock and with the soulful guitaring of Neal Schon. Everyone should bow to this song when it comes to Journey.

This is a good song I have it on my phone and mp3 I listen to it sometimes - trains45

Insanely inspiring, just lifts up my mood every time.
Poetic lyrics and soulful voice. Love it!

2Faithfully

This song is beautiful. It's kind of Wanted Dead or Alive's love song equivalent. - BonJovi17

Extremely motivating and well-written lyrics.
Melody is very catchy.

Fantastic song. One of my favorite of all time. Definitely needs to be a little higher on the list.

Awesome my dad's favorite and now my favorite this song rocks one way to describe it 3 letters R.A. D

3Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)

This is my most played song by Journey. (Probably followed by Don't Stop Believin') and it has a sense of uniqueness. It's not exactly hard rock, but it's not like faithfully, either. - BonJovi17

I immediately fell in love with this song

You'll fall in love with this song the very first time you listen it. Best of all time. Very Inspirational music though the lyrics are sad

I love Journey. I love the ballads like Lights, Open Arms--but enjoy the more straight rock of Separate Ways and Don't stop Believin' the best.

4Any Way You Want It

Love this song! Probably my most favorite Journey song! The music and lyrics are incredible!

Much much better than don't stop believen' this song has the catchy chorus and a great solo as well!

This was the first Journey song I listened to, I loved the kind of immediate start, the guitar riffs and solo, and Steve Perry is just great in this song.

The most amazing harmony intro to any song ever

5Open Arms

Every time I hear this song I think of the movie date movie. You know the part when grant and juilia are in the elevator and then the other 2 people come in and then they start having sex in the elevator? HA HA HA HA HA HA SO FUNNY.

I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about. And I'm frankly glad that I don't. - HaiThere

I absolutly love this song! It's most definitely in my top 3 favorite Journey songs! Open arms, Faithfully, and After All These Years are the top 3! Oh, and for all of you piano players out there, you should really go online and figure out how to play the intro. It's really pretty!

Steve Perry can hit the impossible high notes, and this song goes to prove what range he has.

#7? Why is this so low? I am having this as my wedding song and definitely my favorite Journey song with phenomenal piano entrance! Drums and guitars every so often in the song sound great and not to mention Steve Perry's lyrics are great!

6Wheel in the Sky

How is this not higher on the list? This is definitely one of Journey's most awesome songs. The intro to this song is amazing!

This is totally my favorite Journey song. I think it deserves to be far higher up on the list.

Holy crap! Steve's voice in this songs is crystal! This is right when he joined the band and when his voice was virgin perfect! Great lyrics too! I like his voice best when he sang faithfully when it was seasoned a bit more and more manly, but either way this guy truly has a voice that is a gift from god for all of us to hear. I think he is the best singer in the world, no kidding!

Steve perry first masterpiece

7Lights

This is by far their best song, no question about it. It is way better than Don't Stop Believing and honestly just a perfect song overall. The part at 1:07 is just amazing.

I want this to be my wife and my song

Great song bout San Francisco

I love this song such good vibes

8Only the Young

I'm not sure if I'm mistaking this for Just Ask the Lonely, Just Ask the Lonely for Only the Young, or neither, but (assuming it's 'neither') it's a pretty good song. Kind of subtle. - BonJovi17

Should be ranked much higher - amazing voice lifts you up

There are many songs from journey that don't get the recognition they should, not just the music, but the lyrics
The group stand alone in expertise in their field. How I wish I could play half as well as any of them, especially Neil schon,

This song takes be back. It makes me feel young again. So many memories..

9Send Her My Love

Truthfully, I haven't heard this song in a long time (if at all), but the title is conveying 'this is a song like Faithfully'. I'm making a mental note to pull these up on YouTube. - BonJovi17

Makes you think about the girl you love and miss amazing vocals and guitar thanks Steve and Neil

Perfect song in all music aspects!

Should definitely be top 10! Great song!

10Who's Crying Now

Not the best, but not the worst, by a long shot. (I don't know what WOULD be the worst, but either way, it's a good song and my muscle memory is trying to recall what it sounds like, but is just saying 'You like this one') - BonJovi17

God, I love listening to this song so much! I can't stop playing it so much. - Kevinsidis

AMAZING SONG! Al ot of people don't know it. That's crazy, I'm only 14 and I know it!

A great track from escape

The Contenders

11Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'

This song rocks, has a great story/theme, and ends will a wonderful rolling chant that will always have me singing along to the end.

Best song without a doubt, don't stop believing is great but to popular this song is way more soul full you can really jam out to it

Powerful drum/bass to begin, major lead guitar/vocals in the middle, and pure awesome taunting at the the end. The na-nas in this song actually aren't just there for fun.

Who hasn't been in this situation and this song got them through?

12Be Good to Yourself

Great song, great guitar work by neal schon

Excellent intro, amazing guitar solo, awesome lyrics, gets you hyper. Great song to listen to on a sunny day

A powerhouse of a track.

Totally 80s rock journey has changed throughout the years (the style) I love it all. Why make a list of top journey songs when people might as well love every journey song like I do?

13Girl Can't Help It

This is one best songs they came out with ever since Steve Perry came back to fold from doing his solo album.

This song is underrated! The music, lyrics, and vocals are all so perfect. Steve Perry truly has a 'golden voice' and this song showcases his immense talent. And, as an interesting sidebar, Randy Jackson (from American Idol fame) played bass and sang back-up vocals for this song - laugh out loud.

Should be number -- 1 -- says it all.

Yes, currently at 12, the song is underrated. I think it's one of the highlight songs of their career, the guitar incredibly good, I think Neal Schon's best guitar break solo. The vocal harmonies are also great, not only Steve Perry doing a memorable job with the vocals.

14I'll Be Alright Without You

The bass line in this song is so classy and orgasmic. Props to Ross on this one, the bass really sets the mood

60! This is unbelievable, it's in my top 3, why the hell it's ranked this low

This song is amazing it shouldn't be this low

This shouldn't be lower than the top ten. this is disgraceful

15Stone in Love

This comment below was attached to 'Girl Can't Help It,' but was meant for 'Stone in Love.' Must have clicked the wrong comment button. Sorry! (Wish we could edit our goof ups.. Could this comment be deleted from 'Girl Can't Help It'? It doesn't fit that song, is misleading and doesn't make much sense.)
Yes, currently at 12, the song is underrated. I think it's one of the highlight songs of their career, the guitar incredibly good, I think Neal Schon's best guitar break solo. The vocal harmonies are also great, not only Steve Perry doing a memorable job with the vocals.

This is my all time favorite journey song. It brings back memories about the first beautiful girl I was with when I was in my youth. Few songs convey such vivid imagery and feeling as this song.

An very underrated song

Awesome lead vocals by Perry, backed up by wonderful harmonies. But this song is all Neal Schon. Classic throaty guitar riff throughout with a soaring guitar solo outro. This song is very nearly the hallmark of Journey. - ClimberRat

16Feeling that Way

Feeling that way/anytime should be top 10 easily, but a person would have to get past the commercialism (sarcasm) of the popular picks and dig deeper into Journeys song catalog to find this gem. It's sooo smooth. Great harmony.even when performed live! (check out YouTube). Great vocals all around. The dual leads are nice change up from 'Perry power' all the time. Vocal contrast between the two lead singers makes for a interesting journey (pardon the pun! ). This is the kind of singing Perry's voice was made for before he damaged it. He shows restraint and sings with the kind of natural soul his vocal is best at.

If you've never listened to this song, listen to it. I think it should be in the top 15

When Feeling That Way is coupled with Anytime, this duo is unstoppable. Perry's first album with Journey was a slam dunk.

It's just so good, the two lead singer mesh so well together.

17When I Think of You

I believe Steve wrote this beautiful song for his Mother Mary.

Amazing Song Beautiful as well! - Curti2594

The guitar solo is pretty awesome in this one! - Curti2594

18Ask the Lonely

Okay, I'm positive that I've heard Ask the Lonely. (Not because I hit the sample, but I remember the basic chorus, which alone was impressive enough.) - BonJovi17

This is very sad seeing this at number 27. In my opinion it should be in the top 5. Unfortunately its not as well know as the others such as don't stop believing. But I think this has one of the best messages.

Are you joking? How is this not in the top 5, top 10? This song is fantastic and has great lyrics.

This should be way higher. Totally underrated, better than even Separate Ways if you ask me!

19The Eyes of a Woman

Beautiful piano. Steve is excellent as usual!

20Chain Reaction

Really like Chain Reaction, also, and think it's too far down on the list. It's hard driving and unusual, in the 'love gone south' vein of songs, that lyric, 'Love's a viper, steals your soul' a deep expression of negative aspects of what a relationship not going right can do to a person, which the emptiness of the 'What now? ' sort of theme expresses. It's a sophisticated view, for a thinking, adult person, and the music a perfect match. Whatever people say, complaining of Journey being, as if, a corporate rock band, you can argue against their musical sophistication and tight quality of presentation, polish lacking in many, many other bands. Whatever Journey did, they did it well, like the song or not.

Correction, please, to a comment just a made, 'you CAN'T argue with their..' The next song on the list at 25, Too Late, expresses what it is to be typing at this hour! Nice website, by the way.

Love this song it gets you pumped up!

Another monumental Journey song too far down in the list.

21Suzanne

A big hit that sadly fell through the cracks.

Great build up to the chorus!

Great song!

22Escape

This song is absolutely amazing and epic. This is top ten worthy.

Escape not even in the top 20? That's criminal! It's one of the more creative and powerful, musically complex in a great way, rock songs ever, filled with a youthful, optimistic energy and joy at taking on life, head-on. The song has everything, and it's not another stupid rock song about sex.

This song gets you pumped. Once you hear the first 2 seconds

Journey is probably the most loved band of all time. They are so professional. Love the pounding of the keyboards on this song. It takes me higher. Should be in the top ten.

24Look Into the Future
26Of a Lifetime

This song is really awesome! So is all of the early Journey songs. The lyrics and the guitar rock!

Journey's music was so good before Steve Perry joined the band

best. nr.1

27Troubled Child

Amazing vocals. This song is underrated. Sadly since not many people listen to albums but rather just greatest hits not many people know this song. Easily top 10

Should be higher up the list

28Winds of March

Should be MUCH higher! This isn't just an incredible Journey song, but one of the most Epic Songs of all time! EXTREMELY UNDERRATED!

I agree this should be WAY much higher. I dare anyone to listen to pre-comercial Journey at its best and not think of this to be their rock anthem, like Bohemian Rapsodt is to Queen os Stairway to Heaven to Led Zep. True, Don’t Stop Believing is a crowd pleaser, but if you are looking for Journey musicianship at it best, don’t look any further!

29Anytime

Feeling that way and Anytime are the best Journey songs (especially played together) period.

How the hell is this not higher? Have any of you actually heard this song it is firkin awesome!

Everyone around where this plays, all start singing it; so, why did it only rank 29th? Duh..

Gregg Rolie on keyboard lead vocals.

31Why Can't This Night Go On Forever?

How is this number 76?! This song is so powerful, and unfortunately it's always forgotten about. I'd put this right up there with Faithfully!

One of my favorites! How is it so low!?

32Positive Touch

Really 89? This is one of my favorite songs. Such a classic.

34After All These Years

A song of yesterday, today and tomorrow. Amazing new song that touch everyone's heart and soul.

Love This New Song And Amazing Solo And Singing - mneilan

I love this song, Its very inspiring song I ever heard

What a beautiful song with passion on long lasting love.

35Somethin' to Hide

This one’s a true beauty of ballad, hymnic, angelic, and harmonial instrumentals and vocals.

36Just the Same Way

62? This is just disgraceful. This song is so happy and fun. The instruments sound awesome and the alternating vocals are amazing. Definitely needs to be in the top 20

This should be much higher. One of the best Journey songs.

37Still They Ride

Outstanding song. It just always puts me in a good mood. I don't know what it is about it, but it should be much much higher on the list. Top 10, or hell, even Top 5 for me!

Best Journey song by far.

31? This song should be in the top five.

This song is much better than #31.

38After the Fall

One of my favorites also, if not favorite Journey song. It belongs in the top 5, beautiful melody with powerful harmonies, soulful: the song has everything. It's one of those rare songs that puts me in a place, something deeply resonant about it. I actually don't care for the syrupy, mawkish, slow ballads, but this less boisterous and more subtle song is a real gem.

This is one of my favorites by journey

So Many good ones, but this does not get onough love

39Happy to Give

Way too low, I can listen to this song for days on end.

40Edge of the Blade

Probably their most underrated song. Should be much higher because this is probably Neal's best performance - bigbubba2001

This is definitely their most underrated (besides troubled child) and energetic song.

41Mother, Father

This song, from the album Escape, is my personal favorite. It is not highly known outside of Journey fandom, but it is extraordinary and really highlights Steve Perry's strengths. The very end is particularly impressive. Steve Perry has said that it is the most difficult Journey song to sing. Neal Schon has also said that it is his favorite journey song to play, at least it was when the interview took place.

Why is this not higher! Lyrically this is Steve's best ever! Nobody can and will ever be able to sing it as well as he did. Everyone should watch him sing this live and tell me you don't stop breathing when he sings, it is amazing how long he can carry his voice and a tune! Amazing voice and lyrics. Very moving! Watch him sing this everyone, please!

Mother Father is one of my favorite Journey songs. It is on side B of their record E5C4P3 (Escape), the only album to go to #1. The song features intense vocals, displaying clearly the talent of their lead singer Steve Perry. This is not the kind of song one could simply hum along with, as it has a difficult to follow melody and an insane range. Every time I hear Mother Father I find myself in awe as Perry hits these crazy high notes. The instrumentals in the song are very good, too. I especially like the piano playing at the beginning and end.

Steve Perry at his vocal best hitting unworthy notes! Schon guitar was outrageous!

43Don't Be Down on Me Baby

Mature love song that should be ranked much higher

Every sale directly benefits Bo Diddley’s estate.Boen in McComb, Mississippi in 1928, Bo made a name for himself by creating wild, rhythmic beats that just have to be danced to. With hits like 'Who Do You Love', 'Roadrunner' and 'Hey Bo Diddley', Bo was easily one of the most influential pioneers of Rock n Roll. That's why he's known as The Originator. Snarky t-shirts.

44Patiently

Love it! Listen do ya have ears? TOP 10 Quality hear.

Lovely mellow start then great guitar.Should be higher on list.

46What I Needed
48City of Hope

I understand this is not a song Steve Perry sings, but Arnel sounds exactly like him in this song. Top 10 worthy song indeed with strong lyrics and great guitars and drums

I like this song very inspiring! Great song..

Great song, great vocals by arnel pineda!

Amazing song

49The Party's Over (Hopelessly In Love)

This is Journey's hidden gem. Even though it was a big hit in 1981-82. It was released as the lone studio track on the live album Captured and received a ton of radio airplay. But as time went on fell through the cracks because it wasn't on the first greatest hits album, but has been on Time3 and the Essential Journey greatest hits packages. Give this one a listen on YouTube. You will be glad did.

Great song! Should be high on the list

Great song! Top 25 for sure.

Easily belongs in the Top 10. One of my personal Top 3 Journey songs of all time. come on, man! Really?

50Stay Awhile

Beautiful song worthy of a much higher ranking.
